Welcome on my website dedicated to legendary car Lancia Delta Integrale.
Website is for those who like car sports and also for this one who are interested in history of motorization.
Who am I? Daily I work as diagnostician on vehicle control station. But my passion which pushes me to create a website about Lancia Integrale, developed after hours from many years. Out of diagnostician work I deal with the mechanics of a car. Especially in Italian Lampardi construction DOHC engines. Those one that we can find in most famous sport cars from Fiat group in last 40 years. But racing it’s not all. FIAT DOHC outside of sport was use from beginning of 70’s also in normal cars, starting from Fiat 124,125, 131, 132. Later this engines inherited also Lancia in Beta, Delta, Prisma, Dedra , Thema, Kappa models.
In last 40 years of world racing cars competitions vehicles powered by Lampardi construction engines won 11 titles of construction world champion. Any other product can boast of such achievements, and such a great construction. But we can treat Lampardi’s engine as any kind of engine… it is one in a kind construction, but not without flaws. Due to the complexity of the structure a lot of mechanics give up at start, or leave work in middle.
I started my adventure with this car some by accident. Always I liked classical cars, on the way to school in Radom every day I passed one black car – I liked a lot – mostly because I saw it from distance…
This car, as is turned out later was Lancia Prisma
It turned out because I found an advertisement with same Prisma to sell. I drive to take a look on the car, and with no knowledge about it – I become an owner….owner of piles of scrap metal. But it didn’t discourage me at all.
I sit many days in internet cafes looking for spare parts. Renovation took two years…
Then I bought next one… and next one..
Once upon a time I found a model of Prisma with 4×4 drive and I started to be interested much more. After deeper trace of this topic, a got to the point that is almost a sister of famous Delta.
I decide to make my own project of integral… and that it’s how Prisma Integrale Evo was created, but about this car I will write more in different section.
Now we stay focus on Delta, or maybe better on Delton. This car have in his career everything that is possible to won in motor sports competitions. Delta had in her history four more “ serious” views :
Creation of Delta DF 4wd version in 1986
Integrale 8v version in 1987
Integrale 16v version in 1989
And integrale evoluzione called also evo, or Deltona in 1991
Every version was technically very advanced, for the times that it was produced.
The average man in the street had no chance to buy this car, it stayed always in sphere of dreams, and that how it is until today.
Prices of these cars are cosmic, lack of spare parts … purchase of twenty-something year old car is directly connected with reparations, conservations, etc.
But, the is always some “But” – people who have these miracles in own garage have to be rich, or just be fanatic because nothing compares to big smile and satisfaction after well done ride…
This car is alike a lover – can be moody, malicious but with good treatment of engine, gearbox and other parts it turns into object of desire. W false thinking are people who compares Integral too Subaru impreza, or Mitsubishi Lancer – technical barrier which is separating those cars is big as an abyss.
Delta in racing version is completely different car then in civil version, vehicle has completely different suspension, reinforced engine and drive – this kind of car can make rivalry , but anyone who knows history of this model, knows also that it have no sense because all that can be proved – was proved!!
We are trying to renew memories about old, sometimes forgotten “master of speedways” and we compete with our own specially modified car, on pathless track of modern racing.
We will compare racing version with civil one, we will show a lot of technique connected with engine construction, gearbox and car in general. We will build few engines and compare different version of this model… but all of this in separate sections… so… enjoy reading..!
